"cheju comes with a two part 3" cdr release that brings two times 4 excellent idm-electronic tracks from the highest quality. wil bolton brings beautiful scape music full of layered synth patches of analog keyboards. well programmed drum pattrens and colorfull melodies. this two part release is the excellent follow-up of last years 'foil' 3" release and the very well recieved 'diode' release on u-cover transparent label. homecoming is again highly recommended." - u-cover, 02.08
"cheju on u-cover? always a good thing i think you'll find. this is definitely one of wil's more introverted works and it has a slightly darker texture than some of his other releases. there's plenty of melody in there and some cracking crispy electronic beats, but it's all about the underlying feel of mood and that's where this little gem wins. great stuff as always from the excellent cheju. props." - smallfish, 03.08
"a two disc set of three inch cd’s houses the latest outing from cheju, the electronica vehicle of boltfish co-owner wil bolton. as part of belgian imprint u-cover’s mini-disc series, cheju adds to his burgeoning back catalogue with eight tracks of his streamlined, richly melodic take on the electronic scene. cheju’s biggest asset revolves around the way he contrasts warm and often nostalgic analogue synths, think “artificial intelligence” and future sound of london, with contemporary programming capabilities that ride the crest of the cutting edge. using synth patches doused in thick layers of melodic gloss, many of the tracks here create a reassuringly familiar feel. when adroitly married to his repertoire of beats – intertwining glitches adeptly placed static and deviceful clicks ‘n’ cuts – the results are consistently satisfying. “defect” is a major highlight with its dramatic synth backdrop, merged with twilight chimes and staccato micro-beats, as is the sinister melodic sheen and clockwork programming of “embers”. “cherryandcinamon” transports us above the clouds, with its swirling swoosh and lush, hazy resonance, while “precinct” delves into down-tempo, albeit with a more inventive bent than the majority of those boring kruder & dorfmeister records. in truth all eight tracks here are endlessly listenable, bustling with euphonic sounds around a fluid motif. “homecoming” again displays wil bolton’s immaculate talent for creating expertly crafted helpings of canorous electronica." - angry ape, 03.08

"cheju's two-part homecoming might just as easily be broached as an eight-track mini-album. like fisher, wil bolton excels at crafting finessed electronic idm awash in multi-layered synth melodies. part one opens ruminatively with the lulling keyboard counterpoint of “cherryandcinnamon” before the dark ambiance of “vita glass” appears energized by a midtempo funk groove and softly glimmering melodies. “embers” and “celeste” further exemplify part one's brooding spirit and cinematic aura. if anything, cheju's voluptuous style intensifies on the slightly sunnier part two with the dramatic etude “defect” a particularly robust exemplar. the luminous “gone again” benefits from a skeletal hip-hop underpinning while the whirr-and-click of skittish electro-funk swirl gives “red tin” and “precinct” a strong kick." - textura, 04.08
